Since I was on vacation when the other members of Team GirlStyle first added collagen to their diets, I could only chronicle their experiences and didn’t get to try it. As you can imagine, I was left with some serious FOMO. I, too, was beside myself with curiosity when it came to the efficacy of collagen drinks and the world of internal skincare.
Luckily for me, I was able to get in on the action just a few weeks later. Our team was once again granted the opportunity to try two different types of collagen drinks that just happened to target our specific needs: Kinohimitsu’s Collagen Nite and Collagen Men.

My sleeping patterns have been horrendous lately, a culmination of stress and emotional turmoil. I frequently find myself tossing and turning in bed, waiting for sleep to claim me. The worst part is that I’ll automatically wake up at 8am without fail, even if I only fall asleep in the wee hours of the morning. That means that I often don’t feel rested and have to rely on caffeine to get through the day, which completely foiled my plans to cut coffee from my diet.
So, naturally, I was elated to give Kinohimitsu’s Collagen Nite a go. This drink is made with 100% natural ingredients and its benefits are threefold: mood regulation, improved sleep quality, and skin rejuvenation. Since it was my first time trying collagen, I followed the recommended instructions and took one bottle before bedtime for six days in a row. Then, I switched to one bottle every other day. It tasted predominantly like peach juice and I could also detect hints of honey. That’s because one of the ingredients is manuka honey from New Zealand. Its anti-inflammatory properties support our skin’s natural healing process and protect our skin from oxidative stress.

I must say that I enjoyed the ritual of drinking it right before brushing my teeth and heading to bed. I also felt reassured knowing that the drink contains Lactium®, a milk protein that increases the efficiency of GABA, a neurotransmitter that improves sleep quality and modulates anxiety. Even if I still struggled to sleep sometimes, I took heart in knowing that it could have been worse. Across the two weeks that I tried the collagen drink, my skin remained clear. I was impressed because I usually get an outbreak right before my period arrives!

I previously tried Kinohimitsu’s Collagen Beauty and was a huge fan of the fruity taste and its benefits. This time around, I got to try Collagen Men. We thought that I was the obvious candidate to test it since I am the only guy in Team GirlStyle. But later, we discovered that actually, my gender didn’t really matter. Just like how men can drink Collagen Beauty, women can also opt for Collagen Men if they have oily and acne-prone skin.
Regardless, Collagen Men was a more suitable choice of beverage for me since I do struggle with oily skin and the resultant pimple outbreaks. This drink helps to balance oil production and reduce breakouts. On top of that, it contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, cactus extract and aloe vera, which work to keep my skin moisturised. If you have acne scars or other skin imperfections, it can also help to repair these areas and give you a more supple complexion.
