Living and working in a bustling concrete jungle, it's only a matter of time before a therapeutic day out at a nature retreat is due. The next time you need a nature respite, there's a new park in Singapore to explore - Rifle Range Nature Park.

Taking over the site of Sin Seng Quarry along Rifle Range Road, this nature park was carefully enhanced to support wildlife habitats and improve sustainability features. The 66-hectare site also boasts two boardwalks, three trails, a wetland, viewing decks as well as a kids' trail.

Those arriving from Beauty World MRT will find themselves at the Rambai Boardwalk leading to the Visitor Pavilion at Rifle Range Nature Park.

After passing through the barrier-free and elevated Gliders Boardwalk, you'll reach the Quarry Wetland and where you can take a breather and do a bit of bird-watching. This freshwater ecosystem provides habitats for animals like Scarlet Skimmers and Common Kingfishers and even migratory birds.

If you're in the mood for a more rustic hiking experience, explore the Banyan and Gaharu Trails, which begin at the Gaharu Entrance of Rifle Range Nature Park on Jalan Kampong Chantek.

The little ones can explore the Forest Exploration Trail, a play area with stepping stumps, rock boulders and a stream.

Those up for a more challenging walk can go uphill on the Colugo Trail. At the end is a reward worthy of that workout - a panoramic view of the surroundings at the Colugo Deck.

The viewing point is located 31m above the Quarry Wetland and takes on a unique design inspired by the patagium of the Malayan Colugo in flight.
