The gradient lip is nothing new - it’s been a Korean makeup trend for years now. But actually getting down to it can be a little tricky, what with having to mix and blend the perfect combination of shades together to get the desired outcome. Plus, you’d have to carry at least two lippies around instead of a single tube for touch-ups, thus taking up space in your handbag. But here’s an innovative solution.

Following their trending two-tone eyeshadow stick that allows one to create flawlessly blended eyeshadow looks, trending Korean cosmetic brand Merythod has also come up with a new Two Tone Lipstick for a fuss-free gradient lip, now available in Singapore.

The Merythod Two Tone Lipstick looks like a regular twist-up bullet lipstick at first glance, but pop the cap open and you’ll see that there’s a clear line down the middle dividing the bullet into two distinct shades - a lighter hue paired with a bolder complementary colour.

There are 5 versions to choose from:

  • 01 Rose Turn - Rose and peach beige to resemble dried rose petals
  • 02 Born Red - Red with neutral pink
  • 03 Nu Orange - Summery orange tones
  • 04 Brick On - An alluring deep brick red with nude
  • 05 In Plum -  Cool plum with muted mauve

How the Korean gradient lip look typically goes is that the lighter shade is first applied to the entire lip as a base, with the darker shade (also known as the “point colour”) only applied along the inner corners before being blended outwards. This helps give the appearance of small, demure-looking “rosebud” lips.

Instead of having to continuously apply, dab, and smudge your various shades of lipstick to achieve a natural-looking gradient, the Merythod Two Tone Lipstick lets you nail this in one simple motion. Of course, make sure the lighter shade is facing outwards before starting!

Other than doing up the colour gradient that this lipstick was intended for, you can also apply the lipstick at an angle to use only the base colour or only the point colour on its own (swatches shown above). Essentially, the Merythod Two Tone Lipstick is a versatile 3-in-1 product that lets you play around with your look depending on your mood!

The Merythod Two Tone Lipstick can be purchased in Singapore via Merythod’s official Shopee Mall store. Each tube costs $21.45, with free direct shipping from Korea.
