Korean Half-Piece Bow Hair Clips Are In Trend, Here's How To Style Them + Where To Buy For $0.69 Per Pair
Hair bows are coming back in fashion, but not in the way you’d expect. The regular bow clip now comes with a twist, sans the tails and even the bottom halves of the loops. Hot in Asia right now, especially in Korea, these half-piece bow hair clips were first popularised by Jisoo from BLACKPINK, after she was spotted sporting them in the girl group’s “How You Like That” music video.

Whether you’re a BLINK or otherwise, half-piece bow clips are perfect for adding a cute and feminine vibe to any getup. They’re designed in a way that makes them most suitable for being placed on either sides of one’s head, behind the ears.

It might vary depending on the manufacturer, but usually, these half-piece bow clips are slightly asymmetrical. Look closely and you’ll notice that one side has a smooth edge, while the other side has a pointier edge. There should be no problems figuring out which way up the clips go, as you just need to ensure that their openings are facing the same direction on each side when you put them on.

The bows are bigger than your average hair accessory and are meant to be noticed. As a rough gauge - they probably measure slightly less than half the length of your head.

Jisoo’s are in black, and that’s a great starting point if you’re new to larger hair accessories, as this would look more subtle against dark Asian hair. But if you have no qualms about going all out, you can opt for these in cream or wine red.

We recommend styling these half-piece bow clips with a flared skirt or dress. As these accessories can look quite over-the-top in real life, having an equal sort of emphasis towards the bottom half of your body would help balance things out nicely.

There are multiple Shopee vendors selling these at cheap prices - just type “half-piece bow” or “Jisoo bow” into the search bar. We got ours from Shopee Preferred Seller Shuo Huang Shi Pin for just $0.69 per pair - probably the cheapest we’ve found so far - and have zero complaints about the quality of the product.
