Has severe RBF but is fairly jolly and carefree on the inside. Degree of life satisfaction is heavily influenced by food.

The Secret Patio at Duxton Hill is best known as a wedding venue, but occasionally, the grand event space with European-style arched windows and high ceilings is transformed into a themed cafe.

After successful runs as a romantic planetarium & campfire and a daisy-filled picnic area, The Secret Patio is back with another thrilling pop-up. This time, it's an Alice in Wonderland-themed cafe held on two weekends: 12 to 14 and 19 to 21 August.

Inspired by the Mad Hatter's tea party and whimsically named 'Have I Gone Mad?', the pop-up will have plenty of Instagrammable moments including picnic dining areas surrounded with fresh flowers. At the Red Queen's Garden zone are topiary trees with roses, a swing covered in flowers and "butterflies" suspended in the air. Another area, the Floral Forest, will have giant flowers and more fresh floral arrangements.

On the menu are sweet and savoury pastries made fresh daily by Bakery Brera, a variety of teas ($5 - $7), cold brews ($8.80) and alcoholic beverages ($18) served in potion bottles labelled "Drink me." Visitors who join in a group of four will receive a complimentary pot of mystery tea.

While you're enjoying the drinks and pastries, there are also fun activities that'll make you feel like you're Alice in Wonderland. Every group of visitors will get to experience a 'The Sword in the Stone' moment where they pick out a key and try unlocking a treasure box full of freebies with it. The worthy one who unlocks the box will win it! Make sure to dress in a themed outfit too, as besides looking on point for photos, you'll also get a special surprise. Those who fancy even more whimsy can treat themselves to a live show by the Mad Hatter himself.

Keep your eyes peeled for a report of the actual space in its full glory on 12 August detailing what you can expect at the pop-up! In the meantime, here is a peek at what the space might look like:

The Secret Patio will also be collaborating with Blank-Slate, a non-profit that helps provide jobs to love income families and build villages in Indonesia; proceeds for the reusable bamboo straws (worth $12), which come with every cold drink purchased, will go to those who need it most.

Entry is priced at $39.90 nett/pax or $59.90 nett/pax for an additional live show. The entry fee comes with two pastries of your choice. Note that there will be a mix of nine picnic seating areas and three table dining areas so it's not guaranteed you'll get floor seats!
