Homeowners in Singapore have no shortage of new home furnishings stores to scour for the perfect pieces. Those going for that minimalist Muji-esque design has plenty to choose from at Japanese store Nitori at The Heeren or Standard Products by Daiso at Jurong Point.

But if you're going for a more European aesthetic, head to new furniture store My Selection in Farrer Park.

The homegrown furniture brand started as an online store, specialising in unique yet timeless French and European-style furniture at affordable price points. Their new 1,200 sqft store is their first physical outpost that also comes with a boulangerie corner, La Petite Boulangerie, that serves classic French pastries with a local twist.

One of their most popular pieces is the Buisseau Armchair ($880), an iconic piece by French fashion and lifestyle brand La Redoute Intérieurs. Its classic silhouette is combined with luxe velvet and the cosy, homeyness of cane.

Bring the nature-inspired aesthetic up a notch further with the Tamaroa Cabinet ($2,400), a gorgeous oak-veneered cabinet framed by rattan doors and supported by a metal base.

Besides furniture, My Selection also offers lighting and home accessories including a range by Singaporean brands and designers.

La Petite Boulangerie

My Selection is also going beyond bringing the French experience to Singapore with just home products, but also with food.

At a corner of the store is La Petite Boulangerie, the first in Singapore to introduce the Merveilleux, a traditional Belgium and French meringue dessert.

Lovingly described as a sugar cloud of deliciousness, the Merveilleux ($9) is made of whipped cream sandwiched between meringue. This light dessert comes in a wide range of flavours from classics like Chocolate and Praliné, to local-inspired creations like Kaya and unique ones like Tiramisu and Cheesecake.

It also comes in mini versions (box of 4: $18.80, box of 6: $24.80) that's ideal for sharing.

Another traditional French treat shoppers can enjoy at the bakery are the Escargot pastries ($5.50), flaky desserts with a touch of pastry cream. Thankfully, its name comes from its resemblance to snail shells and are actually the good ol' pain aux raisins we all know and love. They come in both traditional French flavours such as Vanilla Raisins, Pearl Sugar and Praliné, as well as more creative ones like Pandan Kaya Coconut and Gula Melaka.
