Korean Blockbuster「 Train To Busan 」Sequel Confirmed! Filming To Start Next Year!
Yes, it's official. The Korean blockbuster that our favourite Goblin was in is getting a sequel! *pops confetti*
Director Yeon Sang-ho, who directed the original Train To Busan and animated prequel Seoul Station (released one month after the title film) has started working on the script.
It's said that the upcoming film will revisit the same zombie virus seen in the original movie except that this time, the virus will be spread all over the Korean peninsula.
In Train To Busan, Gong Yoo's character Seok-woo, a divorced fund manager, boards the KTX train at Seoul Station with his daughter for Busan. As the train departs, a convulsing young woman then boards the train with a bite wound on her leg. She soon becomes a zombie and attacks a train attendant who then turns into a zombie.
The zombie apocalypse action thriller film premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival on 13 May. On 7 August, the blockbuster became the first Korean film of 2016 to achieve 10 million theatregoers.
A representative for the film's director Yeon Sang-ho said:
"We are planning to begin filming in the first half of next year."
"We still have not cast any actors, so we are still preparing a lot of different things."
They added that the director does not plan to bring back any of the actors from the last film. OH NOOOOO! ANDWAEEEE! T_T
Here's what some netizens have to say about the sequel:
There were basically mixed reviews. Some yay because, zombies. Some nay because the original actors won't be coming back.
So long now, Gong Yoo! T_T
Stay tuned for more updates on this film!
