New Romantic Indoor Campfire In Singapore: Dine Under The 'Stars' This Valentine's Day

After a successful indoor garden picnic pop-up, wedding venue The Secret Patio has launched yet another romantic and photo-worthy dining experience.

This time, it's a planetarium and campfire-themed one that comes right in time for Valentine's Day.

Available only on two weekends from 4 to 6 and 11 to 16 February, this campfire-themed dining experience sees The Secret Patio's grand wedding venue turned into an indoor planetarium complete with cosy tents for photo ops.

The venue's dramatic high ceilings and arched windows are already plenty romantic but things were taken up a notch with the galaxy projector that casted "stars" and "galaxies" on the ceiling.

Adding to the campfire theme are five tents decorated with fairy lights, faux candles and cosy seating.

These cute tent seating areas added to the outdoor camping vibes and also served as photo-taking areas. For those who have bad joints, not to worry, the dining will take place at the regular seating area with proper tables and chairs.

The night will also include an activity and an interactive element.

Guests can design their own bottle of coloured bath salts - perfect to bring along for your Valentine's Day staycation!

Campfire songs will be playing throughout the night to set the mood, and that includes songs that you choose!

Diners can add any song they like to the Spotify playlist via a QR code. Imagine hearing 'your song' playing while having a candlelit dinner under the galaxy and star-filled "sky"!

Food at The Secret Patio Indoor Planetarium Campfire Night

There will be two menus specially curated for this occasion. The Ala carte menu will be available from 4 to 6 February, excluding the $28/pax entry fee. Some dishes you can expect are Campfire Nachos ($18), tortilla chips with ground beef, cheese and jalapeños, Fingers Only ($25), 36-hour Duroc pork ribs, and If Pigs Could Fly ($32), Iberico pluma with carrot puree.

From 11-14 Feb 2022, the Valentine's Day Set Menu ($148/pax) will be served. It includes a 4-course meal and the entry fee.

The soup course is a Campfire Crock Pot, a smoked tomato bisque. Next is the starter, Behind The Bushes, oven-roasted Brie with camping trail mix, honey and rosemary. While not a cheese person per se, I readily chomped down this block of Brie as it had a fairly mild yet indulgent taste. The buttery flavour paired perfectly with the subtle sweetness from the honeyed nuts.

Next up was the mains, with three options to choose from: Beef Short Rib, Pan Seared Sea Bass and Stuffed Portobello Mushroom.

The sea bass had crackling crispy skin, tender meat and a piquant white wine sauce and fennel puree. While it was excellent, it was quickly overshadowed by the beef short rib.

This tender steak had marvellous marbling that gave it a rich, fatty taste that burst in the mouth. This was heightened by a distinct smoky charred flavour from the crust. The tangy cauliflower served on the side helped balance the heaviness of the steak. While this is a definite must-order, I'd recommend sharing this with someone (unless you're a big meat eater).

The last course, Wish Upon A Star, will be a Bourbon peach cobbler.

On the drinks menu are soft drinks, wine ($15/$68) and beer ($8/can). The Secret Patio has also curated three themed cocktails limited to 7 per type for each session.

Served in a charming metal cup, S'mores ($22) is a photo-ready cocktail made with spiced rum, dark chocolate milk, maple syrup and chilli flakes, topped with a torched marshmallow. This warm concoction was like a comforting hot chocolate with a spicy, alcoholic twist. I'd recommend enjoying it right away as it tasted best while warm.

The other two cocktails are Campfire ($18), made with aperol, gin, mandarin oleo saccharum and tonic water, and Wish Upon A Star ($18), which has vodka, lychee syrup, lemon juice, pea flower and galaxy dust.

While The Secret Patio's romantic ambience and outdoor camping vibes seem like the mainstay of this dining experience, it was a pleasant surprise that the food wasn't an afterthought in the least! Everything I tried was impressive in terms of quality and presentation, and the menu was well thought-out to fit the theme yet worked as classics I'd order on a regular occasion.
