#2 Chopsuey Cafe - Chinese New Year set for 2 to 5 pax, including Lo Hei and dessert, $148 - $488
If you are all experiencing hotpot fatigue, try Chopsuey Cafe instead. The Dempsey Hill restaurant serves up Chinese fare with a European twist, so you can expect fun dishes like sticky chicken rice balls, smoked duck wok-fried noodles and steamed kaya pudding. You can order the dishes a la carte, but we recommend the Chinese New Year sets which come with Lo Hei, a starter, mains, a rice or noodle dish and dessert.

#3 Genki Sushi - Abalone or Salmon Yu Sheng, $43.76
Yu Sheng is perhaps one of the most intricate Chinese New Year dishes to make, so even if you’re cooking, you might want to opt for takeaway for this. After all, the different components of Yu Sheng all have a special significance - you don’t want to miss out on anything and jeopardise your luck for the Year of the Tiger! As part of their Chinese New Year menu, Genki Sushi has two types of Yu Sheng available: one with abalone and one with salmon sashimi.

Hosting mahjong or banluck sessions? You’ll need drinks, of course! For extra huat, get these special Chinese New Year drinks from bubble tea speciality shop CHICHA San Chen - they’re all made with pineapple, which is believed to bring luck. There’s Pineapple Tea With Honey, High Mountain Pouchong Tea With Pineapple Juice and Pineapple Juice With Mousse & Cookie Crumble.

#5 Sakae Sushi - Sushi platters, $52.30 - $79.05 and Yusheng, $43.74 - $73.70
Sushi party platters will always be a hit at gatherings. This Chinese New Year, Sakae Sushi is offering two types of festive sushi platters: Lucky Platter ($52.30), which has 32 pieces of sushi and can serve 4 to 6, and Fortune Platter ($79.05), which has 38 pieces of sushi and serves 6 to 8 pax. There’s also Yusheng sets - the Spring Yusheng ($43.74) serves up to 4 while the Lunar Yusheng ($73.70) serves up to 8. You can also add on 8 more pieces of sashimi for $11.64.

#6 Cedele - Chinese New Year snacks and cakes, $9 to $68
If you don’t have the time to spare or simply don’t feel like battling crowds or long queues for your Chinese New Year goodies, just order them from Cedele via foodpanda pick-up and self collect instead!
