AliWALL Festival Singapore 2022: New Free Whimsical, Fantasy-Filled Installation With Performance Art
Singapore Art Week is back! This year, Arts House Limited and MAMA MAGNET have launched the first AliWALL Festival - a weekend of participatory art experiences at the Aliwal Arts Centre (AAC).

Open for three days only from 21 to 23 January, AliWALL Festival 2022: The Dreamer is a curated urban art experience that brings together the worlds of fantasy and reality.
Permission to Dream
This immersive 4D experience is set in a room that features fantasy-filled digital art by visual artist Howie Kim, set design by stage designer Akbar Syadiq, and improvisational roving performances. The cherry on top is a soundtrack by acclaimed Japanese musician Takashi Kokubo.

Located at the Music Room of Aliwal Art Centre, this mini fantastical world is an uplifting and surreal escape that aims to invigorate imagination.

Visitors can experience that installation with different coloured lenses to visualise Kim's striking worlds coloured in RGB filters.
By looking through the lenses, it inspires visitors that our imagination is not bound by the four walls of a room.

Howie Kim's whimsical art is also featured on the official merchandise which will be exclusively available at the festival.

Reality in Construction
It isn't every day that one can paint on walls legally, and this street art experience is a cool opportunity to try it out.
Located at the large wall on the right side of the Aliwal Arts Centre building, Reality in Construction is a narrative-driven mural inspired by urban living by Spaz and TraseOne from urban collective, RSCLS, as well as artists Has.J, Kristal Melson and Slacsatu.
The artists visualise our multiple realities in unique illustrative and hyperrealistic styles, prompting visitors to reflect on our current times.

This outdoor mural has a participative element that aims to convey a message on connection and disconnection in the modern day.
Visitors can have a go at street art and draw or paint a designated section of the mural under the artists' supervision.

Bongdirk
Greeting visitors at the indoor area of Aliwal Arts Singapore is the endearing yet delightfully unnerving Bongdirk, a character by Howie Kim, in a giant inflatable form.

D'TOUR
This tour through Kampong Gelam explores the stories and anecdotes by RSCLS and other artists.
It's a fascinating look into the changing landscape of graffiti art and murals in this iconic neighbourhood, artists' struggles and the history of Singapore as told by artists.

While the festival is now fully subscribed, walk-ins will still be accepted, subject to availability for each hourly time slot as priority will be given to registered guests.
