Wang Lee Hom Confirms Divorce After 8 Years Of Marriage, His Wife & Mother Couldn’t Get Along

We now have a possible explanation for Taiwanese singer-songwriter Wang Lee Hom’s drastic change in hairstyle, where he started sporting braided pigtails with a full beard out of the blue earlier this year. This might very well have been a sign of him going through a difficult time, for the 45-year-old celebrity has just confirmed his divorce from his 35-year-old wife, Lee Jing Lei, after an 8-year marriage.

Breakup rumours were rife since 2019

Wang Lee Hom and Lee Jing Lei first wed in 2013, when the latter was still studying for her Masters degree, and have always openly shown their love for each other - be it during media events or in cute snapshots posted on social media. Scrolling back on their older posts, you’ll find them smiling happily next to each other during special occasions like Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or vacations abroad.

However, sometime in around 2019, the couple stopped appearing on each others’ Instagram feeds, and were also no longer seen together in public. This led to fans speculating about a breakup, which were neither confirmed nor denied back then.

Looks like the rumours are true, as Lee Hom has finally come forward to confirm the divorce himself. Taking to social media, he wrote (directly translated from Chinese): “My private life is simple, so I will not respond to any media about this. In these years of marriage, I have been inadequate, and I feel sorry. Now we have different ideas and plans for the future, we have decided to live separately.”

Lee Hom and Jing Lei have three children between them: Two daughters named Wang Jia Li and Wang Jia Na, aged 7 and 5 respectively, and a 3-year-old son, Wang Jia Yao.

According to reports, the couple were initially thinking of splitting up back in 2017, but any divorce plans were shelved when Jing Lei discovered she was pregnant with their son. Unfortunately, having more children could not serve as a strong enough glue to hold their marriage together.

Lee Hom stated that they will “always be a family” despite the divorce, and requested privacy and space for his loved ones.

Apparently, one of the driving factors leading to the divorce was the fact that Lee Hom’s wife and mother simply could not get along with each other. Reports have said that Lee Hom’s finances used to be managed by his mother, though this was taken over by Jing Lei after they tied the knot - thus leading to friction between the two ladies.

Despite being inexperienced in showbiz, Jing Lei also tried to involved herself in Lee Hom’s work life and career, which allegedly led to Lee Hom’s team ending their partnership with him. This apparently also contributed to their marriage issues.
