Remember the adorable dim sum cat toys by artist Nyammy Treats? These quirky collectibles were launched in 2020 in collaboration with Singapore-based design studio Mighty Jaxx. These toys came in blind boxes with random designs as well as a full set of 12 designs.
This year, Nyammy Treats and Mighty Jaxx have joined forces to create yet another food and cat-centric toy collection, Nyan Kashi, that features cats as Japanese sweets.
Once upon a time, there was a family of kitties. One day, they went to a matsuri and stuffed their faces with snacks. Subsequently, they turned into what they last ate, and the Nyan Kashi collection was born.
The cat family consists of nine different delicious-looking Japanese snack toys. Each is designed with a fun little interactive element like the dango, which can be taken apart, and the taiyaki that has a cat face popping out from the fish-shaped cake when you squeeze it.

The toys have punny cat names like the cute stacked Matcha Melon Nyan, a kitty version of the iconic melonpan bread.

One of our favourites is the Sakura Nyan-Chi, a pretty pink cat wrapped with an oak leaf to resemble the traditional kashiwa mochi.

Most blind box collections will have one or more rare pieces to spice things up and make it extra exciting to unbox. The Nyan Kashi collection has three!
You've got a 1 in 48 chance of getting the ultra-rare Nyan-peito, a transparent bag of konpeito candy that rattles when you shake it. Other rare pieces are Hanami Nyan-go, a pink, white and green dango, and Hana Mizu Nyan-chi, a transparent sakura mochi.
