Looks are deceiving - while the Merlion Plastic Sling Bag appears to be an actual plastic bag merely repurposed as a sling, it’s actually made of woven polyethylene material, which makes it much sturdier than the single-use plastic bags it is inspired from.

The bag measures 33cm x 23cm and has an adjustable strap which can go from 69cm to 131cm.

The strap is detachable, so you can hold the bag by its handles just like how you would a regular plastic bag - only difference being the durability and eco-friendliness, both of which are huge wins in our books.

Though not particularly visible in these photos, the bag comes with a white button for you to “kiap” it shut. Attached to the body of the bag is a tag that resembles a mama shop receipt, illustrating how happiness, prosperity, progress, and courage add up to 888 - huat ah! Below that is a line stating the “order” timing: 9 August 1965, aka the date our little red dot gained independence.
