Special fluorescent algae surrounding the Matsu Islands would light up the island every night, especially during warmer periods from April to September, attracting travellers from all over the world.

To get here, take a domestic flight from Taipei Songshan Airport to Matsu's Nangan or Beigan Island. Alternatively, you can also take the Taiwan Matsu Ferry!

According to photographer Albert Song, the natural phenomenon is easily seen with our naked eyes. Those who tried to capture the sight have failed due to various reasons and lack of photographic skill is one of them.

If you think you are a good photographer, put your skills to the test when you are here.

Though beautiful, it is said that this kind of bloom is triggered by farm pollution and can be devastating to marine life and local fisheries.

Would you still give this a visit if you know it's not exactly a friendly sign (to marine life)?

#4 Vadhoo Island, Maldives

Maldives is a known to be heaven on earth for many but did you know besides the clear water and sandy beaches, there is also a Sea of Stars phenomenon on its Vaadhoo Island that can turn its sea water into electric neon blue?

This attraction is visited annually by millions of tourists and we think we know why.

Know someone who would do anything to visit these starry beaches? Spread the love and share this post with them!
