Mediacorp's leading man Romeo Tan is probably Prince Charming to many Singapore girls; winning their hearts with his million-dollar smile and smouldering eyes.

But did you know? Even Romeo had his chubby and bad hair days.

Well, we don't know for sure how many Juliets he's had but here's how Romeo's first love went.

In an interview with Toggle, Romeo revealed that his puppy love didn't last as long as he thought it would. In fact, he only "accepted her" because he didn't know how to reject her.

"I was at the bus stop, and there were a lot of other students around us. This girl suddenly asked me, 'Do you want to date me?' and at the time, I was so shocked that I didn't know what to do. I never expected that someone would approach me like this, and it was also the first time that someone had confessed to me. I was rather chubby when I was in secondary school, so I didn't think that I stood a chance!"

"I didn't know what to say, so she continued with, 'Does this mean that you're saying yes?'

It was a short lived romance, though. Romeo revealed that after the two 'got together', they somehow didn't contact each other much and in his words, they "drifted apart and broke up like that."

What's Romeo Up To These Days?

Romeo's latest drama Say Cheese is currently airing every weekday at 9pm on Channel 8. In the drama, his character Ke Yuan Hang is a kind and magnanimous newspaper reporter whose friendship with Joanne Peh's character Ze Jia slowly blossomed into romance.

What's Next For Romeo Tan?

When asked about his coming plans, Romeo hinted at a short film.

"I'm currently discussing my next project, which is a short film," Romeo let on. "Mediacorp is thinking of launching a project where actors go behind-the-scenes [as directors]. For my project, I hope to be able to direct, edit and personally select the actors I want in the project. For scriptwriting, I’m not sure if there will be enough time, but hopefully, I'll be able to do that too."

Apart from his possible directorial debut, Romeo also shared he'll be in a drama co-produced by two countries and that it's a project he's "anticipated for a long time".

No matter what projects he's taking up next, we hope it's one where he can go beyond his comfort zone and hone him into an even better actor/celebrity than he already is! Looking forward!
