You know it's that time of the year again when you start hearing the sound of  RSAF planes above and seeing your neighbours take out their Singapore flags. With National Day just lurking around the corner, we Singaporeans are starting to feel a nationalistic swell of pride and getting all patriotic now. It's the time for us too, to take out our national flag and hang it proudly on our balconies so our neighbours can see how patriotic we are and we cannot lose to them and the radio stations start to belt out various rendition of popular national day songs. And yes! The fireworks we get to witness on Saturday nights during the parade rehearsals!

In the spirit of the country's birthday, we decided to explore some sweet treats that have a distinctly Singaporean theme. We discovered this baby called LEEU, a newly opened store located at Esplanade mall. They have some unique offerings featuring handmade artisanal ice cream and desserts inspired by our beloved Singapore icons. This Singapore-Themed Ice Cream Parlour serves the cutest little Merlion Popsicles and D24 Esplanade Tarts. Sounds right for a National Day celebration!

Happy Birthday Singapore! Baby Merlion popsicles which for some reason, somewhat resemble tiny seahorses. Too cute to even eat!

The D24 Esplanade Tarts made to resemble our one and only Esplanade. So adorable.

Get out your cameras too because Leeu also serves some very pretty and instagrammable soda floats.  The Old Timer  is their best seller. This tasty float consists of Pandan Milk topped with Beancurd. For all the Tau Huey lovers, this would be an intriguing twist on their traditional favourite.

Our favourite! The Japanese Fish Tail Soft Serve $6.80 simply because...why would anyone in the right state mind not love soft serve?

So if you have not been able to get your hands on the all elusive National Day Parade tickets (because it's really as hard as winning the lottery), fret not for this is another alternative to celebrate the National Day in a sweet and stylish way.
