The Digital Art Museum (also known as MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM teamLab Borderless in full) opened its doors to public on 21 June (today!), making history as the world's first digital art museum featuring over 400 tech arts created by "ultratechnologists".

The museum is located at Odaiba, a man-made island in Tokyo.

To create this immersive 3-dimensional (3D) environment for art lovers and visitors, 520 computers and 470 projectors (wow!!) is used in the 10,000 sqm (107,639 sq. ft) gallery space.

At this exhibition, visitors can get ready to be wow-ed by artworks that LEAVE rooms and move, artworks that COMMUNICATE with other artworks and artworks that FUSE with other artworks.

This immersive experience is brought to life by teamLab, a group of "Ultratechnologists" with a mission "to explore how humans relate to nature in an age when much of our life is governed by technology".

The Museum's Artistic Vision

In an email to Quartzy, a teamLab spokesperson shared: “(We want) to tear down the borders between ‘one art and another’, ‘art and visitors’ and ‘oneself and others’ by allowing visitors to melt into the art and become part of it."

Planning a visit to Japan soon? Make sure you don't miss out on this Digital Art Museum; an immersive and once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience. Go, go, go!
